AACC Florida

Annual Reports

In 2016, the AACC provided over 1600 families and individuals with health, employment, immigration, domestic violence, and refugee services. In addition to those services, the AACC Helping Hands was involved in a number of charitable events that provided holiday gifts to over 1800 families and individuals, fed the homeless, and gave out care package and school supplies.

Healthcare Services

  • Provided in-house PCAN navigators who conducted free consultations and signed up families for the Affordable Care Act (ACA)
  • Was the leading organization in Central Florida in terms of signing up families and individuals for insurance through the ACA, with over 585 families and individuals served.
  • Partnered with the Florida Department of Children and Families in order to help community members access those services.

Emplyment Services

  • Hosted an in-house CareerSource Employment Specialist who conducted free employment consultations monthly in the office.
  • Assisted members of the community in identifying job opportunities and creating resumes.
  • Conducted job training and resume building seminars at the office.
  • Published an employment bulletin on social media through an email campaign.

Immigration Services

  • Hosted an in-house CareerSource Employment Specialist who conducted free employment consultations monthly in the office.
  • Assisted members of the community in identifying job opportunities and creating resumes.
  • Conducted job training and resume building seminars at the office.
  • Published an employment bulletin on social media through an email campaign.

Domestic Violence

  • Helped 28 shelter victims in cooperation with Harbor House
  • Conducted educational seminars about healthy relationships both in the office and outside the office for 348 families and individuals.

Refugee Services

Provided refugee families with educational training, food supplies, job training, cultural orientation, English classes, rent and utility help, furniture and clothes, translation and transportation services, DMV, holiday gifts, school supplies, Driver’s License classes.

Giving Back

  • Participated in Arab American National Service Day that was held in 14 cities across the country. Our projects included volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House and at the 2nd Harvest Food Bank
  • The Arab American Community Center, along with Islamic Relief USA and St. George Orthodox Church hosted the homeless at our annual Day of Dignity.

Civic Engagment

  • Worked with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department to create an advisory Board which functions as a liaison for the Arab Community.
  • Hosted four candidate forums for the 2016 local elections. Over 80 candidates from Orange, Seminole, Osceola, and Hillsborough counties participated in these candidate forums.
  • Mobilized a statewide voter registration campaign, and a Get Out the Vote campaign through phone banking.
